PRESS RELEASE – Scores of budding young footballers got the opportunity to showcase their skills at a two-week long Football Summer Camp hosted by the Valley Soccer Academy and sponsored by LIME.
The VSA Football Summer Camp, which is organized annually, is open to boys and girls age five and older and was held at the Castries Comprehensive Secondary School from August 3 – 14.
LIME has been a loyal sponsor of the program.
It introduces young players to a creative and carefully crafted training program to help them develop their raw talent and improve their understanding of the game.
They also participate in outings and play friendly matches with community teams. The program is also designed to help the kids appreciate the values of discipline, unity and teamwork, plus they get lots of exercise and have great fun. LIME provided the VSA with a cash contribution to assist with the activities.
“LIME sees the immense potential in St. Lucia’s football and so we were quite happy to support the VSA, not just for this year’s football camp but for the overall development of the sport and our budding young players,” said LIME Marketing & Communications Executive, Sharlene Jn. Baptiste.
“Over the years, LIME has put its weight behind practically every major sport in the country from cricket to football and tennis, to netball and track and field. St. Lucia’s youths can certainly look forward to more exciting opportunities resulting from LIME’s collaboration with partners in the field of sports, in the coming weeks and months.” Ms Jn Baptiste added.
The Valley Soccer Academy is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating age-appropriate football development programs for kids and fostering an enabling environment that serves as a virtual nursery for young players.
President of the VSA, Ersher Daniel said: “We are truly grateful to LIME for sponsoring this year’s football camp and for all the help they have provided over the years. The VSA Football Summer Camp is a great way to get kids excited about football while they’re still at a young age and help them develop their playing skills and meet new friends.”
LIME’s support for the VSA comes on the heels of its sponsorship of the Trevor Daniel Football Development Program (FDP) in May. Some 250 boys and girls age 4 – 12 from 13 primary schools in and around Castries are participating in the FDP program, which provides them with creative and fun-filled football training. It is fully endorsed by the Ministry of Youth Development & Sports and the Ministry of Education.
