Lightning aquatics to host electrifying Relay Carnival

unnamed-8PRESS RELEASE – Lightning Aquatics (LA) Swim Club is gearing up to stage its first swim meet on Sunday, March 19th at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center (RHAC) from 9:30 a.m.

This exciting meet dubbed ‘LA Relay Carnival’ will be unlike any other as the emphasis is not on individual events but will call on swimmers to strategize and bond with their teammates to undertake the various relay events.

Some of the fun events include a T-shirt relay as well as a kickboard relay where swimmers will use their dexterity to stack up to four kickboards as they battle their competitors through to the finish line. According to LA President, Mrs. Tessa Charles-Louis, “We are thrilled to be staging LA Relay Carnival and we take this opportunity to invite all swim clubs as well as swimming enthusiasts and athletes from other sporting disciplines to enter the competition for the fun of it. We have included relays for parents and coaches as well. LA Carnival Relay will be fun-filled yet challenging preparing the island’s competitive swimmers for the RHAC Invitational Swim Meet in April which will welcome several clubs from the region.”

As the event draws closer, persons who like and share the official competition flyer on the club’s Facebook page ‘Lightning Aquatics Swim Club’ will be eligible to win special prizes. That’s not all, there will be an opportunity to participate in a raffle which will be drawn at the end of the competition.

The prize, compliments The Landings St. Lucia is a Day Pass for two at the prestigious hotel in the north of the island. LA Swim Club thanks those who have come on board to sponsor thus far and welcome others to follow suit; Tim’s Rubber Stamp, Jamecob’s Quality Construction, R.A.C. Masters, MASA, St. Lucia Mortgage Finance Company and KP Marine Yamaha St. Lucia.


Additionally, the Club President commended the eleven LA swimmers who attended the 2016 Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association (SLASA) awards on March 5th at the Bay Gardens Hotel. Six of LA swimmers copped prestigious awards: Naima Hazell – 1st place in the 9-10 girls and the stroke awards for breast stroke; Naekeisha Louis – 2nd place in the 9-10 girls; Anneliese Gaillard – 3rd place girls 8 & under, and Karic Charles – 3rd place in the boys 8 & under.

Certificates of participation were presented to Naima and Ethan Hazell, Anneliese Gaillard; Naekeisha Louis, Akim Ernest and Karic Charles for the 2016 Goodwill Meet hosted in Saint Lucia while Naima, Naekeisha , Akim and Karic received certificates of participation for the OECS Swim Competition held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2016.
