Saint Lucia’s Levern Spencer is still hunting the A standard for World Championships in Moscow this year after finishing third at the Goteborg Grand Prix in Sweden on Saturday.
The Caribbean record holder cleared 1.88m to finish joint third with Germany’s Ariane Friedrich. Ahead of those two were Spain’s Ruth Beitia and Sweden’s Emma Green-Tregaro. The latter two both cleared 1.92m with the European champion Beitia winning on count-back.
Spencer has cleared 1.93m already this season, virtually booking her ticket to what would be her fifth World Championships.
She is trying to get to 1.95m, which would all but guarantee her ticket to Moscow, and which would be her third-best height of all-time.
