Let’s develop Saint Lucia-Brazil cultural exchanges (letter to the editor)

Samba presentation in Brazil

Dear Editor:
Brazil is well known for football and its cultural tradition of samba which features heavily during the Rio Carnival.

We need to package La Rose and the other Flower Festival, La Maguerite, in similar fashion to what the Brazilians have done with samba. Hence when visitors hear about St. Lucia they will know that this is the home of La Rose, La Maguerite, Carnival and Jazz.

It would be good to commence cultural exchanges between St. Lucia and Brazil, with the assistance of the Brazilian Embassy, where Brazilian samba groups can do performances in Saint Lucia and St. Lucian folk groups can perform in Brazil as we explore our common African heritage. The Brazilians have a martial arts dance called capoeira which is similar to dances done by the people from the Piaye community in Laborie.

Going forward we need to apply the Jounen Kweyol formula to La Rose and La Maguerite to ensure the long term survival of our Flower Festivals.

  1. What about important elements of their successful business culture? Jackasses stop thinking like country bookies. We have enough of that kind of thinking already in the damn government.

  3. This comment from B A, sound very much like a drunken sailor fantasizing on brazilian girls. On a more serious note, i think A G suggested idea of a cultural exchange is most welcome.

  4. The only "Culture" i would love to exchange with Brazil is with their women.

I say, bring 5 cruise ships of Brazilian women on island for our consumption.

Now that's what i call, "Exchange of Culture"
