PRESS RELEASE – Labour Minister, the Honourable Dr. Robert Lewis will meet with Management officials of St. Jude Hospital and the National Workers Union (NWU) at the Department of Labour on April 22, 2016.
The meeting will commence from 10.00 a.m.
The Minister will attempt to resolve an industrial impasse between the Hospital and the National Workers Union which has resulted in the termination of the services of one (1) employee.
Since then the NWU has submitted a thirty (30) day ultimatum notice of industrial action should the matter remain unresolved.
The NWU’s concern is the fact that the Hospital did not adhere to the provision of due process and natural justice enshrined in the industrial protocol agreed to by the parties.
The deadline date for the notice of industrial action is April 25, 2016.
