La Clery home destroyed by fire

An early morning fire has destroyed a home in La Clery leaving five people homeless.

The inferno began around 1.a.m. Wednesday and quickly spread through the building.

The occupants did not manage to save anything, but escaped in quick time.

It is not clear what caused the fire, but by the time the fire service responded, the house was already engulfed in flames and there was little that they could do to save the building.

No further details.

  1. Given that many homes are timber built and prone to complete destruction by fire, why aren't fire alarms a necessary installation in homes as well as fire safety drills for all the occupants?
