PRESS RELEASE – A second half hat trick as part of four second half goals saw La Clery come from behind against Anse La Raye and book their place in the finals of the 2014 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament qualifying play offs.
Anse La Raye had won the first leg encounter 2-0 but a resurgent La Clery behind a hat trick from Johnthan Allain and a finely taken composed left footed strike by national defensive midfielder Pernal Williams made the difference as La Clery stunned Anse La Raye and the large crowd on hand at the Marigot Playing Field Saturday afternoon to witness the match for a 4-2 aggregate win over the two legs of the encounter.
LA Clery will now meet Mon Repos in the finals of the competition at the date and venue to be announced shortly by the tournament organizers who are to meet tomorrow to finalise plans for the play off final and other matters pertaining to the 2014 tournament.
Meantime two more warm up games took place last evening at the Gros Islet playing field as teams continue their preparations for the 2014 Blackheart Knockout Football Tournament set to kick off on September 20th.
Two former losing finalists in the tournament Babonneau last year’s losing finalist and Central Castries the 2008 losing finalist played to a goalless draw.
In the second match defending champions Gros Islet and three times Blackheart Knockout Champions Dennery played a very good encounter with Gros Islet ending winners at the end of regulation time 2-1.
Gros Islet’s goals scorers were scored by Troy Greenidge and Melvin “orange” Aurelien from the penalty spot..
