KNOW YOUR LAWS: Influencing electors to vote


  1. (1) During the hours that the poll is open upon polling day a person shall not upon any public road or in any public place within 100 yards of any building in which a polling station is situate seek to influence any elector to vote for any candidate or to ascertain for what candidate any elector intends to vote or has voted.

(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of $250 or to imprisonment for 3 months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
