(SNO) — The Saint Lucia Cycling Association held seven events on National Day, December 13th 2018, getting the action underway from 3:00pm on the Castries city circuit.
Gideon Louis of Dennery Valley won the 10 and under 1 lap event in 1 minute 56.19 secs, followed by Roseau Valley teammates Cornelius Edmund (2:09.60) and Neshaun Polius (2:34.80).
The victor in the 11 to 12 years 2-lap event was another Dennery Valley rider, Mathew Louis, in 3:23.63, beating teammate Cleynanus Jules (3:44.31) and Bexon’s Demitrius Newton (3:58.03).
In the 3-lap open 18-and-under, Eltus Joseph of Dennery won in 5:13.38, over Roseau girls Cornelia Edmund (5:47.71) and Leonica Antoine (5:47.91).
The 5-lap open Mountain Bike / BMX event saw a Bexon / Sarrot podium, led by Cameron Augustin (8:28.03), with Victorine Laurence (8:29.63) and Erik Emanus (8:48.19) in the minor positions.
The Mountain Bike 150m Sprint Open was another Bexon / Sarrot event, with Augustine, Laurence, and Emanus reprising their positions.
Another sprints event, this time the 150m open under-18, saw another win for Eltus Joseph, with Cleyanus Jules and Gideon Louis in second and third.
The sixth and final event was a 15-lap open Road Race, won by Kluivert Mitchel of Mon Repos (20:45.28) from Dennery veteran Elvis Joseph (20:56.61) and Excellers’ Winston Williams (21:02.75).
