Kiwanis Club of Castries provides food baskets to elderly homes

PRESS RELEASE – The Kiwanis Club of Castries yesterday afternoon completed its distribution of Hampers which the club commenced in Mid January 2016.

Every year during the Festive Season the Club embarks on its Annual Hamper project which provides non perishable food & other household supplies to several Elderly Homes and individual families throughout the island.

Members assemble daily for a continuous two week period outside of the Gablewoods Branch of of Super J Supermarket and solicit shoppers to donate non perishable food items to the club. These items are then carefully sorted out by club members over several evenings into various size hampers for distribution.

This year several Homes for The Elderly namely: The Marian, St. Lucy, Adelaide/Frances and Cornerstone Homes together with the Faustin Orphanage Children’s Home in Soufriere and the Holy Family Children’s Home in Ciceron Castries were receipients of Large Hampers. In addition over 30 families throughout the island were beneficiaries of smaller individual Hampers.

The Kiwanis Club of Castries would like to sincerely thank all the shoppers at the Gablewoods Branch of Super J Supermarket for their kind generosity which made the project possible and also the Management of SuperJ for their kind cooperation.
