Kimhia Toussaint will represent St. Lucia at the Miss Universal Carnival UK pageant at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in Luton on August 10, 2013.
Toussaint is expected to compete against 14 delegates from various countries including Brazil, Jamaica, Scotland, Antigua and Venezuela.
The event is being put together by Carivog International, an imaging, lifestyle and talent management company.
Some of the main aims of the pageant, according to its website, are to provide “an international performance platform to celebrate all aspects of carnival arts, showcase diasporic carnivals of the contestants and promote each diasporic carnival as event tourism”.
The Miss Universal Carnival pageant is also aimed at encouraging innovative approaches to carnival and an avenue for “creative carnival costume builders to display their costumes in a more formal setting”.
The ladies will be judged in four categories– carnival costume, carnival scavenge couture, evening wear and interview.
Persons in St. Lucia are being asked to vote for Toussaint to become the “Face” of the Miss Universal Carnival UK through the following link http://missuniversalcarnival.com/missucuk-missstlucia-closeup.html.
