KIA National Independence Tennis Tournament coming to St. Lucia this month

The 5th Annual KIA National Independence Tennis Tournament will be held at the St. Lucia National Tennis Centre from Saturday 13th February to Friday 19th February.  

The St. Lucia Tennis Association along with main sponsor Northwest Ltd, through its brand KIA has promised exciting, off your seat tennis matches with a higher standard of tennis match play from both juniors and seniors. All categories include, junior 10s, 12s, 14s, and 18s, Open Mens & Womens singles and doubles and Senior Doubles 45+. The Elite juniors namely: Troy Joseph, Meggan William, Sage Charlemagne, Simon Desir, Joey Angeloni, Nathan Francis and Iyana Paul,  are training non-stop and preparing physically, technically and not to mention mentally for this event.  

As held before, our Mini Tennis Expo for developing juniors from the St. Lucia National Tennis Centre’s Schools Tennis Initiative’ will be held on Friday 12th February from 11:00am to 2:00pm.  The Mini Tennis Expo is a fun competition for our mini tennis players who are not yet able to play full court tennis but who show just as much zeal for the sport.

Northwest Limited is one of the longest serving automobile dealers in Saint Lucia, and continues to aim to bring the same dedication for quality and excellence to the sport of tennis in Saint Lucia. Joining hands as co sponsor this year, is Blue Waters St. Lucia, who shares the aim to encourage and support the drive to improve the quality of life here in St. Lucia in this field of sport.

This tennis season will definitely start off with a bang; with this first tournament of the St. Lucia Tennis Association’s Calendar year.  Important dates to remember are the Press Conference on Thursday 4th February at Northwest Limited, 11:00am and the Opening Ceremony on Saturday 13th February from 4:00pm at the St. Lucia National Tennis Centre, Beausejour. Interested members of the public are encouraged to show support and get ‘court’ up with tennis as part of their National Independence activities.
