Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Saint Lucia is making every effort to support community development and continues to make valuable contributions to various causes across the island.

One such example is the work being done to improve the Forestiere Methodist Combined School. As part of these plans, KFC Saint Lucia collaborated with the school’s administration to host a day of Jazz and Barbeque.

The event, which kicked off at 11 a.m. today, May, 7, 2014, brought together pupils of the school, their parents and guardians, teachers and members of the community for a day of fun and relaxation.

KFC Marketing Officer Deone Gardner said the company donated chicken to the school for the barbeque and funds from the sales will be used towards maintaining the school.

According to Gardner, this is just one area in which KFC Saint Lucia is assisting the Combined School. Gardner said KFC has also imported rubber tiles to cover the school’s small play ground. This will reduce the pupils’ chances of getting hurt, even if they fall. KFC, she said, has also brought in other companies, which will be assisting to spray-paint the slides and paint the facility.

The children were treated to karaoke and sang along with local soca singer Trish, among others. They were also treated to jazz and reggae music.

Face painting and fun games were also part of the day’s activities.
