PRESS RELEASE – After an exciting and competitive KFC Commercial League Tournament the curtains are set to come down this Saturday the 17th of October at the Beausejour indoor facility.

The road to the finals were set after last weekend’s semifinals, which saw dog fights between Sandals Resorts and The Teachers Union and then Goddard Group vs The IRD Hustlers.

In game one Sandals resorts- who seem to be flying under the radar all tournament came up against the formidable and favored Teachers Union. From the opening tip Sandals, seemed well prepared for the Teachers aggressive “off the dribble” offensive style; and at one point had a 20 point lead in the 3rd quarter.

But as it is with all good teams, especially in basketball…teams go on runs and the teachers did just that- cutting the 20 point lead to 2 with 1 min and 22 seconds left.

And with a strong defensive stop the teachers were in a position to tie the game however, Sandals resorts- and KFC player of the game Joel Ettiene ( 18pts, 3 steals, 2assists, 1 block) had other plans- with his delivery of a game saving block shot. Final score 54-51 to Sandals Resorts and the first to book a seat in the finals.

With a game 1 like that, the exuberant crowd was in eager anticipation of an equally competitive and nail biting game two… Goddard and IRD Hustlers did not disappoint! The game was fast paced, physical, scrappy as neither team wanted to give an inch.

The first half was filled with lead changes with the Goddard Group having a 5 point lead going into half time. In the second half IRD went on a solid run talking a six point lead with seven minutes left to play. The Goddard group then changed their strategy and started to attack the undersized IRD team who were without one of their key interior players.

That strategy yielded big dividends as Goddard Group- who were runners up in last year’s CBL- narrowly edged out IRD to book a return spot to the finals-and a chance to avenge last year’s 2 point loss.

Usual suspect Andre Louison was the player of the game recording a monster 27 pts and 25 rebounds. For IRD Ron Dumurville recorded 27 ptsand 12 rebounds in the loss.

This weekend anw KFC CBL champion will be crowned as Sandals resorts will go up against Goddard Group. You can’t afford to miss it!
