Club swimmers in Saint Lucia will be seeking to sharpen their technique or book their spots on the team for the Goodwill Swimming Championships, to be held here next month, when they line up for the Second Annual Karen Beaubrun Developmental Swim Meet.
The Karen Beaubrun Meet, hosted by the Sea Jays Swim Club, is scheduled for this weekend, 9-19 July at Rodney Heights Aquatic Centre.
This year, the Karen Beaubrun Meet has been sanctioned by the Saint Lucia Amateur Swimming Association, and provides an opportunity for swimmers to make their best time for selection on the National Team for the intra-regional Goodwill meet, 19-21 August.
Held in honour of their beloved coach, Karen Beaubrun – who passed away in 2011 – the Sea Jays Club promotes the meet emphasising the “Coach Auntie Karen” philosophy of hard work, dedication and character development.
Sea Jays already has the distinction of being the club which has hosted the most local swim meets over the past 15 years, including the now Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Time Trials, held in October each year.
Newly elected Sea Jays president, Eldris Pierre Mauricette anticipates a competitive meet and thanked meet sponsor Cox and Company for their continued support for local swimming. Lightning Aquatics are the defending meet champions.
