JUSTUS to host concert fundraiser

PRESS RELEASE – This Easter JUSTUS, the leading youth vocal group in Saint Lucia is excited to share with the general public yet another celebration of mixed choral music.

This concert will be held at the Bougainvillea Conference Room at the Bay Gardens Hotel on Sunday 12th April 2014 at 7:00pm.

This concert will form part of the choir’s annual fundraising ventures and will hold an entrance fee of $20.00

#JustusSingsPraise will allow 20 young vocalists, aged from 17-27 years throughout the island of Saint Lucia to showcase their vocal ability and interesting harmonies paired with some choral movement.

JUSTUS will be sharing the stage with the Evergreen Singers; also an initiative set up by the MUSICMAN Learning Centre and a mixture of older singers who will wow the crowd with their unique harmonies.

#JustusSingsPraise features a very wide-ranging choral repertoire under the direction of Mr. John Paul Bailey current director of the MUSICMAN Learning Centre and Windward Piano Sales; and of Jason C. Joseph (a.k.a Bachelor), Ministry of Education Music Specialist, and Saint Lucia twice crowned Calypso Monarch.

In this concert, JUSTUS welcomes four (4) new voices selected from their audition process held earlier this year; Mr. Trenton James (Tenor), Mr. Bradley Leonce (Tenor), Mr. Shervon James (Tenor) and Ms. Tabitha Fontenelle (Alto).

The aim of JUSTUS is to pursue excellence in the performance of the widest possible range of choral repertoire and, in the process, to train young singers to be well-rounded musicians (this is why all its members are expected to achieve at least Grade 5 passes in external ABRSM singing exams) and to make them become choral leaders in their schools, churches and communities.

Glen Lake, the choir’s Marketing Officer spoke out saying “As we approach Easter, we try to look more profoundly into what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. Is He the focus of our testimony? In what ways do we need to come further?

Could our understanding of Him deepen? How do we praise him? That is what we aim to do with this concert, show that there is not only one way to offer up praise to God; but that this can be done using various genres and musical stylings.

You can NOT afford to miss this show on April 12th at the Bay Gardens Hotel.”

More information can be found on the groups Facebook page or by following their PR Leader on twitter @GRLake.
