Junior tennis in the south receives a boost

(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – Children from the south of the island recently participated in a successful two-week tennis camp hosted by the Southern Amateur Lawn Tennis Club.

The participants, ranging in ages 5 to 14, received training in the basics of tennis in an atmosphere of fun and learning. The camp was aimed at developing the sport of tennis among children and junior players from surrounding communities in the south.

The kids experienced further tennis training and fun at the Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa tennis courts. They also visited the Kenneth ‘Wriggler’ King sporting facility in Castries where they met with former national tennis player Sirsean Allain and his team at the Tiger Tennis Academy. The kids were exposed to various fun games and activities.

The Southern Amateur Lawn Tennis Club (SALTC) is thankful for the significant support given to the camp by volunteers from the National Tennis Centre and the SALTC, as well as parents who contributed to the success of the programme. The SALTC also takes the opportunity to thank the several sponsors who made this camp possible, including: Demio Holdings Ltd., Forest Springs Ltd., Hewanorra Air Cargo Services Ltd., Medical and Dental Services Ltd., Yasmine Fontenelle, Tiger’s Service Station and Atlantic Shores Riding Stables.

This is the second consecutive year of the tennis camp. It was conducted at the Southern Amateur Lawn Tennis Club tennis court in La-Tourney, Vieux-Fort from July 10 to 21.
