Four days after Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony delivered his New Year’s address, members of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) are still critiquing and criticizing it.
Outspoken Opposition Member of Parliament Guy Joseph also joined in on Friday (Jan.29) stating that the Prime Minister did not address the core issues needed to be addressed.
Joseph told media operatives at Parliament, that Dr. Anthony has not answered the many questions the citizenry has been asking over the past few weeks about IMPACS, CIP, and the “Juffali affair’.
“The explanations given by the Prime Minister in his New Year’s address regarding several major issues is nothing short of being a lousy explanation,” he stated.
Joseph argued that the five points given on the issue regarding Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Dr. Walid Juffali is not enough.
“Why didn’t he address the issue of his (Juffali) representation? Because he was never given a diplomatic passport for the sake of having diplomatic passport. He was given it to do a job. Has he done the job?”
The Castries South East MP again questioned whether the Prime Minister will accept mediocrity non-representation and allow Juffali to continue to take advantage of the privilege afforded to him.
“If he was appointed to represent us on the IMO and never did, why we are are we still holding on to him? If it was a Saint Lucian, would they be afforded the same protection that Juffali has been given?” he questioned.
Joseph ended by saying, “everything he will do will catch up with him,” referring to the Prime Minister.
