Four days after Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony delivered his New Year’s address, members of the opposition United Workers Party (UWP) are still critiquing and criticizing it.

Outspoken Opposition Member of Parliament Guy Joseph also joined in on Friday (Jan.29) stating that the Prime Minister did not address the core issues needed to be addressed.

Joseph told media operatives at Parliament, that Dr. Anthony has not answered the many questions the citizenry has been asking over the past few weeks about IMPACS, CIP, and the “Juffali affair’.

“The explanations given by the Prime Minister in his New Year’s address regarding several major issues is nothing short of being a lousy explanation,” he stated.

Joseph argued that the five points given on the issue regarding Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Dr. Walid Juffali is not enough.

“Why didn’t he address the issue of his (Juffali) representation? Because he was never given a diplomatic passport for the sake of having diplomatic passport. He was given it to do a job. Has he done the job?”

The Castries South East MP again questioned whether the Prime Minister will accept mediocrity non-representation and allow Juffali to continue to take advantage of the privilege afforded to him.

“If he was appointed to represent us on the IMO and never did, why we are are we still holding on to him? If it was a Saint Lucian, would they be afforded the same protection that Juffali has been given?” he questioned.

Joseph ended by saying, “everything he will do will catch up with him,” referring to the Prime Minister.

  5. SLP is making this man a real star. When deceit is standard operating procedure, somethings come backfire and come back to haunt you. No one with a sound mind can ever trust anybody wearing those bloody red shirts again. Their brand is bitter days. Their George Orwell double-speak is "better days.'

  6. Guy has his questions; i have mine.

Why wasn't the rest of the cabinet including the Minister of External affairs and the GG informed of the appointment of Juffali?

Did the government know of his impending litigation in the UK?

Did the government know of his illness and the possibility that he may not be able to fully represent the country and himself for that matter?

Has Juffali given any money to the state?

Does he hold a St. Lucian passport?

Is he provisionally the main client of our CIP or is he already a citizen of St. Lucia?

What is our link with Saudi Arabia which has one one the worst records on the rights of women?

Will the selling our diplomacy and representation become a common economic strategy for the country?

Will the appointment of unqualified people to prestigious international institutions such as the IMO undermine the professionalism of such institution? How will our international friends view this strategy?

So SNO and others, i am hoping that the next time the PM or the Press Secretary has a press conference ask these questions and don't play dohtish!

  7. people this is politics and the way it works to to keep the masses ignorant and stupid. everyone inside knows exactly whats going on from impact to CIP and this one man that they claim they know not about. as for me i do not support anyone of you, as none of you is to be trusted one is covering for the other and thats where my concern lies. the UWP was in power when peoples human rights were being violated and now they are looking for all ones to blame except themselves. why not be a man and say exactly what happened under your administration at the time of your operation. who gave the orders? and for this juffali man he is not a country and why put so much emphasis on him. at the end of the day he is just a man and can be replace at any given time! we have many matters to deal with in this country the finger pointing must stop. see when you point your finger the big thumb is pointing right back at you so check yourself clean the slate and come again!

  12. I have said it before, that if proper and thorough investigation has to be done, two ministers of government will have to account their expensive property purchases they made just around the same time that Mr. Juffali was made ambassador.

    • (a not so serious story) from somewhere in the world it go like this:
a former minister was invited by a new minister for a party. when he reach at his house he was astonished about the size and luxury and he asked, him how you do that with a salary as a minister? he explained to him: a foreign government had given some money to build a 2 lane road from A to B. well, we build it a little different, we build a 1 lane road and put on each end a traffic light.
Time passed by and the new minister was invited by the former minister. when he reach at his home he too was astonished about the size and luxury and asked him the same question how he do that with a salary as minister? he explained to him: a foreign government had given some money to build a new bridge over the river by his house. .....can you see it ??????

  13. Joseph says: "everything he will do will catch up with him"

I really believe that; when you allegedly cover a cover up you will soon need
another cover to cover everything. In this season, no time to cover up.
