Japanese gov’t funds procurement of ambulance for St. Lucia Red Cross


PRESS RELEASE – The completion ceremony for the Grant Assistance for the Grass-roots Human Security Project (GGP) entitled “The Project for the Procurement of an Ambulance for the Saint Lucia Red Cross Society” will take place at 2:00 p.m. on October 27, 2015, at the Saint Lucia Red Cross Headquarters, Vigie. The Saint Lucia Red Cross Society received a grant of up to US$60,213 for the procurement of an ambulance, which will be used to provide rapid-response first aid services.

His Excellency Mitsuhiko Okada, Ambassador of Japan and Mr. Kenneth Monplaisir, President of the Saint Lucia Red Cross, will be in attendance for the ceremony. Dr. Glensford Joseph, District Medical Officer & Health Disaster Coordinator, Ministry of Health, along with Mr. Lambert Charles, Ag. Chief Fire Officer, Saint Lucia Fire Service, are also expected to attend the completion ceremony.

The Government of Japan welcomes further opportunities to work with the Government and the people of Saint Lucia, all with a view to strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding which exist between the two countries.
