(JAMAICA GLEANER) — The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) says it is “shocked, shaken and saddened” by news of the slaying of East Portland Member of Parliament, Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.
PNP President Dr Peter Phillips, in a statement issued a short time ago, said the lawmaker’s death “must not be allowed to go unpunished.”
Phillips said the police “must employ what is necessary” for a full and complete investigation “and the perpetrators must be brought to justice.”
“No Jamaican should ever have to suffer at the hands of criminals in their own country,” he said, adding that wanton acts of criminality have left families and sectors in mourning and rob the nation of its best potential.
The PNP president lauded Bloomfield as someone who devoted years of his life in service to the Jamaican people, both as a medical doctor and an elected representative.
