INT’L UPDATE: Man who abandoned daughter at Subway restaurant claims he was drunk

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS – A Long Island man who abandoned his 3-year-old daughter in a Harlem sandwich shop was taken into police custody Sunday, telling cops he was drunk and forgot she was with him, police sources said.

Stanley Frederique, 34, sobbed as he told traffic agents in downtown Brooklyn that he lost little Natalie.

Natalie was left all by herself after her father brought her to the Subway restaurant on St. Nicholas Ave., ordered her a sandwich and then bolted around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, authorities say. – NY Post photo

He was charged with abandonment of a child and other offenses.

“I didn’t leave my daughter,” Frederique said as cops escorted him out the 26th Precinct station house. “I’m sick. You guys do not know what’s going on in my life. I didn’t leave my daughter.”

Frederique left his daughter all by herself after he brought her to the Subway restaurant on St. Nicholas Ave., ordered her a sandwich and then left about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

A surveillance camera caught them entering the store together.

“He looked drunk. He looked abnormal,” said Mohammed Rahman, 37, who has a fruit stand outside the fast food joint.

  1. There is something called responsibility. You being drunk is being and having the child with you is irresponsible. No two ways about it. And as a result of your irresponsibility and foolish actions you must face the consequence...as a result.
