#TodayWeRecognize Nicole Cazaubon from the community of Soufriere.
Nicole has been a volunteer for over nine years, participating in many local and national events. She currently studies at the Division of Teacher Education and Educational Administration at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
Growing up in Soufriere, she was an active member of the ICAN Youth Group. ICAN, short for I Can Change a Nation, was born out of a youth summer enrichment programme in 2008, with a mission to create a space for “positive youth leading the way for positive change, by fostering positive vibes.”
The group received heavy support from RISE (St. Lucia) Ltd. and implemented several community development programs.
One successful project of the group was a project in collaboration with RISE (St. Lucia) Ltd., Commonwealth Youth for Positive Living (CYPL), the Soufriere Soup Kitchen and the Soufriere Foundation to assist the underprivileged persons in the community. ICAN also encouraged youth participation in the Arts, an initiative led by Bryanson Soulage and Nicole from the community.
Nicole is the General Secretary of the Division of Teacher Education and Educational Administration – students’ council and the Public Relations Officer of the Soufriere Youth and Sports Council.
She is also an avid debater and has participated in Youth Parliament and the St. Lucia National Youth Council Independence Debate for several years now.
Help us wish Nicole the best! Keeping it going, Nicole!
