france-truck-attackCNN – At least 73 people were killed Thursday night when a large truck plowed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in Nice, France, the Nice prosecutor’s office said, according to French media.

The driver pointed his tractor-trailer into the crowd and accelerated, mowing bodies over. The driver was shot to death, authorities said. At least 100 people were injured, authorities said.

Here are the latest developments in the tragedy:

The attack in Nice, France, began when an occupant of the truck shot into the crowd and then drove for 2 kilometers along the pavement of the Boulevard des Anglais, the main street in Nice, regional President Christian Estrosi told CNN affiliate BFM-TV. He said police later found firearms, explosives and grenades in the truck.

Anti-terror prosecutors have joined the investigation, according to BFMTV, citing the Prosecutor’s office.

  1. Doesn't look like prayers over the years has had any effect.

    Reference to Einstein's quote-
"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Perhaps what's needed from western Christians is an immediate cessation of the "war of terror" they have inflicted on the citizens of the Middle East, Africa, Southern Asia, South America, & Central America, for the past 70 years.

Now that I re-read the paragraph above it is very obvious that western Christians (with their hypocrisy & prayers) have been the cause of all the ills of the world!

    • I am not of any faith. My spiritual response is a humanitarian one. Imagine carnival revellers, (God forbid) mowed down along a St Lucian Street. Whatever race, religion the act is one of horror, one of terror. What makes another human be armed in a vehicle do such an appalling thing against others? Such acts touch everyone. It is not an act of God but man and that is harder to reconcile whatever the idea or ideology that motivates this behaviour. I am just a sentient human and can empathise with my fellow human who are distraught, broken and killed. I do not have a political spin of this. The repercussion is likely to lead to more violence and victimization, more blood letting.

  2. I send Prays to France and all the victims. This supposed to be a day of celebration of Liberté, égalité, fraternité. The place was chosen for maximum damage. The event attracted tourists from many nationalities around the world as well as children, families and the disabled. This is a horrific act of terrorism. The world community must stand strong and united against this barbarism,
