The Department of Information and Broadcasting within the Ministry of the Public Service, Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology wishes to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Mr. Timothy James who passed away on Friday, February 1st, 2013.
A career public servant, Mr. James’ devotion to duty and self-less efforts was an inspiration to both his subordinates and superiors.
Mr. James served in several capacities in the Public Service, first as a police officer in the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force then as a youth officer in the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports. But it would be in the Ministry of Broadcasting he would make his greatest contribution.
His interest in broadcast/journalism and the HAM Radio got him transferred from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports to the then Public Relations Office where he served for almost two decades, rising from the position of Information Officer to Public Relations Officer/National Disaster Preparedness Officer.
He retired from the Public Service as the first director of the National Emergency Management Organisation NEMO.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, the Cabinet of Ministers and a grateful nation, would like to say thanks to Mr. James for his dedicated and sterling service to his country. Our prayers are with his family during this time of mourning.
May he rest in peace.
