A meeting scheduled by Minister of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour Dr. Robert Lewis  in an attempt to settle an industrial impasse between the management of Sunshine Industries Limited and the National Workers Union (NWU) on Thursday, March 21, 2013 failed to come off.

The company and the union were summoned by the minister to attend a mediation meeting from 2 p.m. NWU officials were present but the company found an excuse for being absent.

The minister has confirmed that another attempt will be made to convene another meeting to bring closure to this two month dispute.

Reports are that the company has locked out its employees. NWU officials say domestic and conciliation meetings have been unsuccessful.

  1. They are too ridiculous to put their job at risk for one person who was suspended. #Bullshit. I, as a manager of an organisation would definetly not want to be working with people like them. Putting my company on a downfall. No way I say. For all I care they wud find another job.

  2. Based on the current situation between the Government of Saint Lucia and the CSA, does the Government have the moral authority to deal with this matter? Is Sunshine industries not acting like the Gov.? What is the minister to say to Sunshine industries, 'do as I say not as I do'? Smh
