This development is as a result of a recently held secret ballot among the security guards that was supervised by officials from the Department of Labour.
The poll revealed that over 59 percent of the employees voted in favour of having their interest represented by the National Workers Union (NWU). The NWU has since received a recognition certificate from the Department of Labour.
Meanwhile, the NWU is in the process of scheduling a meeting for the security guards during which they would participate in the formulation of proposals to be submitted to the company.
This is the second security company to be represented by the National Workers Union.
