Dear Willie: I think that I am overly obsessed with men, mainly for their physical appearance and sometimes personality. I find myself liking a guy very quickly and the feelings don’t seem to go away easily.
I’ve been in two official relationships but neither of them lasted long since I found myself liking other people whilst having a boyfriend. Currently I’m in an on-and-off relationship with a close friend. However, I’ve already found myself falling for another guy who I know is just trying to use me, but I just can’t get him out of my mind.
I’ve tried ignoring him but I find myself wanting him even more. He really knows how to make me feel good! My current boyfriend is aware of the situation and I know he is very hurt. I’m afraid that I will never be able to be in a proper relationship since I can’t stick to one man at a time. I don’t know what to do again.
Dear Lustful: Based on the tone of your letter, you sound like a teenager or someone in their early 20s. I believe you’re in an “experimental” stage of your life where you just really want to have fun.
I do not believe you’re ready to settle down as yet. I however believe that one day you will be able to stick to one man, but not right now.
A lot of people, mainly the ages 16-23, believe they’re ready to commit but they’re actually not. Just ask your parents or someone older about the type of person they were from 16-23 compared to now. Total different mindset. The people you’re falling in love with now, are not necessarily the people you may desire at 29-39.
In the meantime, I would recommend stop trying to get into a relationship, but while you have fun, please protect yourself.
