Hundreds turn out for inaugural International Women’s Day tea party

(GIS) — As part of celebrations for International Women’s Day 2019, the Make It Happen Foundation held the inaugural “Tea and Testimony” women’s tea party at Government House on Sunday, March 10.

The event saw over 300 beautifully-dressed ladies attending for an afternoon of fascinating stories, fantastic prizes and fabulous fashion.

The inspirational line-up of speakers for the afternoon included Hon. Dr Gale Rigobert, Mrs. Michelle Anthony-Desir, Mrs. Paula Calderon, Mrs. Roberta Polius, Ms. Neysha Sooden, Dr. Nadine Collins, Mrs. Mara Giraudy-Thompson and the legendary Sister Marie Claire-Joseph.

The tea party proceeds will support the Women’s Support Centre in Saint Lucia.

The Women’s Support Centre (WSC) was established in Sept. 2001 as a temporary place of safety for female victims of domestic violence or intimate partner abuse, and their dependent children.

The centre provides a 24-hour service for women in a secure and supportive environment.
