History made at the Windward Islands Umpires Convention
unnamedAs members of the Windward Islands Umpires Association Convention began their three convention in St. Lucia, President of The Windward Islands Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association Billy Doctrove has announced that he will not be seeking re-election after 16 years of service to the organization.
Billy told the gathering ” even if am retiring I will be just a phone call away if you ever need me”.

The opening ceremony  which was held  at the conference room at police headquarters, saw the honoring of two members in Lennox John the outgoing CEO and Morrison Blanchard for long & outstanding service in umpiring.

Blanchard who has been a member of the said association from 1966, on receiving the honour, told the room: “I am happy to be getting this honour while I am still on my feet”. Blanchard added “history is being created here today as we have heard that President Doctrove who was elected at a convention here 16 years ago will be retiring at the close of this convention”.

The convention will continue on Saturday November 19th to elect a new president and will end on the 20th with a church service at the La Clery R C church followed by a round the island tour.
