PRESS RELEASE – The 758 Lucian Style Battle, also known as, LSB is a Hip Hop competition initiative taken in order for the youth of St. Lucia to develop and showcase their talents in healthy rivalry between their various dance groups through the medium of Hip Hop dance with the addition of their St.Lucian flavour.
Involved in this process is Youth S.P.A.C, National Students’ Council, Alliance Francaise de Sainte-Lucie, CAMDU , New Stars Dance Group and MD Dance Company from Martinique, and our sponsors Coco Palm Hotel and MCE Sounds.
These young persons who are taking part in this venture are being trained through workshops held by Marshall Degazon, Leader of New Stars Dance Group, and Davis Milome, Owner of MD Dance Company.
This Hip Hop Competition is not a one-time thing but is a competition which is set on positively impacting the lives of young people for the long run.
With this provision of training, it is the hope that these young people further themselves in the field of dance, dreaming big and reaching high.
This also allows the youth of St. Lucia to celebrate their month, April ( Youth Month), as expressive as possible through their dance. Hip Hop is not only a type of dance or art form, but a culture, a movement.
This project helps the participants and wider public understand and partake in this culture of Hip Hop and embrace its positive influences on our youth and us the wider society.
The 758 Lucian Style Battle (LSB) will be taking place at the Beausejour Indoor Facility on the 17th April, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. for a small fee of $20.00 XCD.
Not only will the culture of Hip Hop be portrayed in dance but also in other art forms such as spoken word and visual art.
Tickets will be on sale and can be purchased on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th, and Saturday 11th April 2015, from members of the National Students’ Council at the Blue Coral Shopping Mall , Baywalk Shopping Mall and JQ Shopping Mall.
Come out and assist the youth in celebrating youth month, by showing your support which will encourage these young people to do their best at what they love, unleashing their St.Lucian taste to this cultural movement.
