The Ministry of Health will on Thursday, August 27 launch a fitness competition to tackle obesity in Saint Lucia.
The competition called “Pedi Gwes, Bon Sante Pou lavi” will kick off at the National Cultural Centre.
Some 90 persons are expected to participate from nine health regions across the island.
These individuals will be challenged to lose weight and improve their eating habits.
Each of the 90 participants will be examined by doctors, to ensure that they are healthy enough to take part in this two month programme.
The “biggest loser” will be presented with an award. Other prizes are up for grabs for various categories.
This competition is expected to be introduced in schools, where there are high numbers of overweight children.
