(PRESS RELEASE) – International Leo Day commemorates the organization of the first Leo club on December 5, 1957.
As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Leo Clubs, I salute the Leos of District 60B.
On this International Leo Day, let us recognize the immense contributions of our Leos, as they reach out to the less fortunate among us. Let us continue to support our Leos by encouraging and supporting them in their quest for improving their leadership skills while seeking new experiences and opportunities for service.
We must continue to applaud their commitment to building a future of peace, prosperity and dignity for all while continuing to build on a tradition of service to meet emerging global needs.
We are reminded that our Leos provide the most marginalized people in our communities, an opportunity to get involved in the decision-making process. They provide, as the motto says, opportunities for young people to experience leadership and personal development skills while they volunteer – bringing hope to the disadvantaged.
Leoism provides our youth with opportunities to use their voices to shape conversations, question social norms and promote the values we all hold so dear.
International Leo Day, means giving honor, respect, encouragement and support to all those young people of our District who have willingly taken on the challenge to become Leos and to give back to their communities in an era when young people are faced with many competing challenges.
I salute you the Leos of District 60B and encourage you to continue using your best endeavours to ensure that at all times “Our Service Makes A Difference”.
Congratulations on this 60th International Leo Day.
May God continue to bless us all.
