Guyanese couple arrested for drugs in nothern hotel

A Guyanese couple was arrested at a hotel in the north after police discovered a significant amount of drugs, cash and jewelry in their hotel room.

John Christopher Louis and Ashley Rebecca Louis of Georgetown, Guyana were detained by a team of police officers during an operation at about 2:15 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013.

No mention was made of the name of the hotel in a police press release. The two were said to have appeared before the First District Court in Castries on Monday, June 24, 2013. They face charges of possession and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug

“During the operation, the officers executed a search on one of the rooms. During the search, they recovered approximately 1.5 kilos of cannabis and 2.3 kilos of hashish. Also a sum of approximately $12,000.00 ECD and a quantity of jewellery was recovered from the room,” the police report said.
