(NEWS ROOM) — A manslaughter charge was on Monday dismissed against 22-year-old Rick Seecharran, who was accused of pushing his girlfriend out of a moving car, which resulted in her death.

Rick Sewcharran of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is accused of unlawfully killing his girlfriend, Sasia Adams on June 10, 2018 at Lamaha Street, Georgetown. He was out on $500,000 bail.

The Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan on Monday ruled in favour of a no-case submission made by Attorney Sanjeev Datadin, who argued that Police Prosecutor Neville Jeffers failed to prove his case.

Following the Chief Magistrate’s decision, Seecharran’s relatives rejoiced while Adams’ mother and siblings were observed crying.

The Pomeroon, Essequibo woman died on June 12, 2018 at the Balwant Singh’s Hospital two days after reports that she fell out Adams’ moving car.

Her family claimed that she was pushed out of the car.
