(NEWS ROOM GUYANA) – A 49-year-old woman was on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, fined $100,000 by Magistrate Judy Latchman for forging her dead husband’s Will and uttering it to the Deeds Registry.
Liloutie Prasad of Da Silva Street, Kitty was found guilty of the charge which read that on December 11, 2015, at Charlotte Street, Georgetown with intent to defraud, she uttered the forged Will of Sase Narine Ram-Saywack to the Deeds Registry.
She was found guilty at the end of the trial and a fine of $100,000 was imposed or default 18 months imprisonment. The case was prosecuted by Corporal Shawn Gonsalves, who told the court that the woman was in a common-law relationship with Ram-Saywack, who is now deceased and who was the owner of a property located at Da Silva Street, Kitty.
However, the man’s son reported to the police that the woman had in her possession the Will and Testament of his father, who reportedly left the property in his name but the woman changed the documents in favour of herself.
