A promise made to the people of Gros Islet by Therold Prudent and the Lucian People Movement (LPM) during the 2011 election is nearing fulfilment.
On Friday, August 9 at 4p.m., the Gros Islet community will witness the official launching of the Home & Garden Club, at the LPM headquarters in Gros Islet.
The aim of the club is to encourage the cultivation of home gardens throughout the constituency of Gros Islet. The first phase will witness 60 families proudly receiving a complete set of garden tools, vegetable seeds, hand gloves and other accessories.
The programme will be carried out in stages to collectively empower the community of Gros Islet through the promotion of food self-sufficiency. The next stage of the programme will be in the community of Monchy within the next 18 months. The Home & Garden Club is expected to benefit 500 families.
The Home & Garden Club is being hosted by the Gros Islet Lucian People’s Movement (LPM) Committee. An open invitation is extended to the public.
Light refreshments will be served, accompanied with entertainment and the opportunity to network with the LPM.
