Gros Islet continue to rule the roost in Inter-Distrcit Netball. Yet to suffer their first defeat, the top team from the North zone thrashed the number one seed from the East, Dennery South, in their latest encounter.
The two met this week at the Vigie Sports Complex.
For the first two quarters, Dennery South led by a narrow margin, 9-7 after the first, and 21/20 at halftime. But Gros Islet never lost focus and picked up momentum in the second half. The majority of their squad comprising past and present national players, the wiley northerners took over the lead in the third quarter, 34-32, and went on to defeat the east coast lassses 44-41.
For the victorious Gros Islet team, Dedra Mathurin led the scoring, netting 43 from 53 attempts. Matherline Walter made 1-4..
Shem Maxwell led the scoring for Dennery South, converting 32 of 44 attempts, assisted by Kaiser Sealy scoring 7-15 and substitute shooter Serlan Emmanuel, 2-2.
