On Thursday 1st August, 2013, the Gros-Iset football committee in collaboration with the Gros-Islet Parliamentary Representative will host a number of sporting activities to celebrate Gros-Islet Day 2013.
This year, a number of socio-cultural activities have been organised to mark this auspicious occasion. These events include the Gros-Islet Youth summer camp, the Gros-Islet Queen Show, Gros-Islet Carnival and the launching of Monchy La-Rose activities.
In addition to these scheduled activities, the foot-ball committee headed by Mr Gary St.Rose, partnered with Honourable Emma Hippolyte to organize and launch the 2013 Gros-islet football league. This event will commence at 3:00 p.m. with a march pass followed by the first two games of the knockout competition. These two exciting games will feature:
Northern United V. Marina Massive
G.M.C V. Monchy.
In addition to football, a number of fun sports have been organised to engage the community. These include:
Lime and spoon
Rock-cake eating competition
Egg throwing competition
Swimming competitions will also be held on that day at the Seaview Beach Front from 11:00 am.
Prizes for these events include thirty dollars for first place, twenty-five dollars for second place and twenty dollars for third place. Lots of other prizes will be up for grabs.
