Green, Urs win Stableford Golf

On Saturday, the Saint Lucia Golf Association and the Saint Lucia Golf and Country Club at Cap Estate hosted their Stableford 10/10/10 event.

After a soggy start, the golfers warmed up to a bright and sunny afternoon. Just under 30 players took part in the event, which was closely contested in all three categories.

When the sun finally went down, the cream rose to the top, Kerwin JnBaptiste winning the front nine with a whopping 23 points but just unable to keep it together on the back to make a clean sweep.

Mike Green, Naveen Urs and Paul Marshall shared the back nine with 19 points apiece and, having scored 20 on the front nine, Green and Urs shared the overall title with 39 points apiece.

Over the next two Saturdays (15th and 22nd) there will be a qualifying tournament for the men’s national team to contest the Eastern Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) Championships.

The competition is being held in Sint Maarten, 2-4 October, and four spots will be up for grabs on the Saint Lucia team. The qualifiers are open to all interested golfers, who can sign up at the Golf and Country Club.
