Gov’t to hold consultations with communities on new agriculture policy



PRESS RELEASE – A National Policy and Strategic plan for the advancement of the agricultural sector is currently being developed for Saint Lucia.

As such, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Production, Fisheries, Cooperatives and Rural Development wish to engage participation from members of the public in developing the new Agriculture Policy and Strategic Plan.

A series of consultations is currently being embarked-on in communities around the island, to encourage public participation.

Farmers, fishers, concerned citizen and members of the public are invited to attend the meetings and contribute to the discussions on the way forward for the local agriculture sector.

Notices will be aired on radio and on television as to when and where the meetings will be held in the various communities.

Meanwhile, the first in a series of communities meeting for the development of the New Agriculture Policy and Strategic plan will be held at the La Ressource Combined School in the Mabouya Valley on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 6pm. Residents of the Mabouya Valley are invited to attend the meeting and to contribute to the discussions.

The consultations move to the Human Resource Center in Belaire on Thursday October 15, 2015 from 5pm. Residents of Roseau and its environs as well as Millet and its environs are encouraged to attend.

Remember its Wednesday, October 14 from 6pm at the La Ressource Combined School and Thursday October 15 from 5pm at the Belaire Human Resource Center. Everyone is invited.
