Gov’t condemns terrorist attacks in Paris, France

Government has condemned the recent terror attack in Paris, France that killed 129 people and wounded 250 – 80 critical – on Friday, November 13.

Acting Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre said that the government and people of Saint Lucia are saddened and distressed by the tragic event.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to the many families who lost love ones and who now grieve or are traumatized by this calamity. The pain and anguish they feel at this time must be grave as they have lost friends and relatives so unexpectedly and tragically,” J Pierre added.

The minister said Saint Lucia condemns all acts of violence and terrorism and abhor these cowardly forms of aggression against innocent lives.

He continued: “The Government of Saint Lucia stands in solidarity with the French Republic and the entire global community in condemning terrorism. We condemn terrorism in all its forms, whenever it may happen.”

J Pierre noted that Saint Lucia shares strong historical and cultural ties with the people of France as a member of La Francophonie and continues to enjoy close social and economic relations with France, particularly through its overseas regions of Martinique and Guadeloupe.

“The Government of Saint Lucia is assured that those who committed these horrible acts will be brought to justice and suffer the consequences of their deadly and cowardly behaviour,” he added.

OFFICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER: The Government and people of Saint Lucia are saddened and distressed by the tragic events which transpired in Paris, France on the night of Friday November 13.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the many families who lost loved ones and who now grieve or are traumatised by this calamity. The pain and anguish they feel at this time must be grave as they have lost friends and relatives so unexpectedly and tragically.

We condemn all acts of violence and terrorism and abhor these cowardly forms of aggression against innocent lives. The Government of Saint Lucia stands in solidarity with the French Republic and the entire global community in condemning terrorism as a perversion of our core human values. We condemn terrorism in all its forms, wherever it may happen.

Saint Lucia shares a strong historical and cultural ties with the People of France as a member of La Francophonie and continues to enjoy close social, economic and cultural relations with France, particularly through its overseas regions of Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Caribbean.
