The Saint Golf Association’s latest Monthly Medal competition saw participation from 27 participants, who welcomed the improved conditions at the Saint Lucia Golf and Country Club in Cap Estate, thanks to the recent rains.
And make no mistake, the golfers took full advantage of the renewed greenery.
Mitigating against the fresh grass were some fairly brisk winds, against which some players struggledd. But at the end of the day, those with the greatest determination came out on top.
Taking first place was Debra Ross, newly elected Captain of the Saint Lucia Gold Association. Debra hit a net score of four under par 67, giving her a one stroke win over David Farrin, who took second place with a net score of three under par 68.
The Stableford points section was won by John Maycock with 37 points, and the gross prize went to Romanus Inglis with a score of 77.
Local golfers and the Golf Association continue preparations for the 2015 Eastern Caribbean Golf Championships, slated for October in St Maarten. According to Golf Association president Tim Mangal, “Preparations are underway to ensure that team Saint Lucia comes back with trophies this year.”
