Goals galore in Veterans Football on the weekend

football(1)PRESS RELEASE – Twenty one goals were scored in four matches played at the weekend as the Veterans Football Tournament for 2015/2016 resumed after a break for the festive season.

The quarter finals of the plate championship was played with matches being played Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday Former champions  Behind the College All Stars and Dennery All Blacks booked their places into the semi finals of the plate championship.

Behind The College All Stars registered a five goals to two win over Nyah. They were led to victory by RSL 97 BPL Plus analyst,MBC Television Sports Anchor Winners TV Strictly Football host,and former national player Tennyson “chung critic” Glasgow who scored two goals in the 11th and 27th minutes one of them a spectacular long range effort from about twenty yards out which the Nyah custodian Defreitas Francois had no answer too. Other goals for Behind The College came from Jerry Reneau in the 25th and 57th minutes and Lincoln Alfred in the 53rd minute. Nyah’s goals came from Desmond ‘ACKEE HEAD “ Francis in the 54th minute and Ian “go bwee lom” Cadet in the 81st minute.

In the other match Saturday night Dennery All Blacks edged out Laborie Veterans three goals to two. For the Dennery All Blacks the goal scorers were Joey Hunte in the 6th minute, Hendricks Collymore in the 31st and Benson Emile in the 44th minute. Valence Duncan in the 48th and Danaze Tommy in the 78th minute were the goal scorers for Laborie Veterans.

Last evening Prophets and Kings won over Micoud Veterans two goals to nil with goals coming from Clifford “baba”Sandiford  and Flemming “Kelley” James in the 57th and 82nd minutes. Sandiford and James are both from Mabouya Valley and they were playing for the Castries based Prophets and Kings team.

Also last evening home team Valley Legends had a convincing six goals to one victory over Micoud Renegades. Goals from Lloyd Clifford in the 2nd and 70th minute, Spencer Smith in the 45th and 55th minute, Simon “melchoir” Robinson in the 32 minute and Cassius Constantine in the 83rd minute were the Valley legends goal scorers. Former national striker and Coach Felix “I rough” St.Rose scored the lone goal for the Micoud Renegades.

So the semi final line up for the Lime Plate Championships reads Behind the College All Stars vs Prophets and Kings and Dennery All Blacks vs Valley Legends.

The semi finals of the Lime Plate championship will be played on Saturday September 23rd at a venue to announced later.
