PRESS RELEASE – The Government Negotiating Team (GNT) regrets to advise the public that a scheduled meeting between the GNT and the St. Lucia Civil Service Association (CSA) on November 24, 2014, did not take place. The CSA confirmed its attendance at the meeting on Monday, November 17, 2014.

Despite the attendance of some CSA representatives, the absence of a quorum on the part of the CSA did not allow the meeting to proceed.

The General Secretary of the CSA apologized for the absence of key members of the CSA Negotiating Team and stated that despite his best efforts he was unable to contact his colleagues.

Notable absentees were the President and all other elected members except a trustee.

It should be noted that the GNT received no prior notification regarding cancellation of the meeting, at which salaries, wages and allowances would have been discussed.

Given that it is not in the country’s best interest to have protracted negotiations, the GNT is fully committed to continue engagement with the CSA to complete the negotiation process.

It should also be noted that the GNT has successfully completed negotiations on wages, salaries and allowances with the Trade Union Federation (TUF).

  1. is that press release intended to make ppl think negatively of the president of the CSA? it is just a sad state of affairs in St Lucia. Politicians know how to play the ball. Are we suppose to believe that Ms Isaac and the majority of the elected members from CSA would deliberately stay away from such an important meeting. GNT please focus on the issue at hand and stop taking LUCIANS FOR UNEDUCATED FOOLS BECAUSE THAT WE ARE NOT. CHOOPS

  2. Jackass Saint Lucians do not understand sweet F-all about negotiating. These fools cannot see strategy, nor understand it. These idiots believe it is all about going behind a table and shooting pure shayte every time. What a country brimful of idiots! They have no reason to take any position they support. Their brains are too weak. Beers cloud their judgement and reasoning every time.

  3. Did you submit the minutes of the last meeting to her? no, but you already broadcasting her absence. Who you think you fooling.

    • She could have at least call to indicate she had a prior engagement and would not be present at the meeting. This is how professionals behave.

    • I would like Mary to present the minutes where the executive made the decisions that she has been pronouncing (unilaterally)! If she can do so, then she has a right to ask GNT to submit theirs.

By the way, if you do not know, the pronouncements has been made without the executive's knowledge. At least, that is what I have heard.

  4. The CSA President including the CSA Negotiating Team is damb right. Is because they are working in the best interest of their members that's why they were absent. In this tough economic climate, csa members cannot accept a 5% decrease and a wage freeze. It has to be one or the other, not both. Mad cow and Bambi want lucians to die of hunger or what? Well who knows? Maybe their bread butter already! Steups, is shaight they talking there.

  5. Well, that has been the status quo for months now regarding the actions of the CSA and its president so no shock there. And I'm pretty sure there's a "legitimate" reason for the absence and the "will" if the CSA members are represented by these actions.

  8. I am a CSA member and I think the President is a big JOKE! I am disheartened with the UNION! It would take a whole lot to regain my allegiance.
