Gang attack leaves Dennery man in critical condition

Twenty-two-year-old Tony Flavius of Dennery has to undergo surgery because of a chop wound to his head after a gang invaded his home last night (May 21).

Reports are that Flavius also sustained injuries to his hands, when a gang of four young men attacked him at his home on Hospital Road, Dennery. He is a patient at the Intensive Care Unit of the Victoria Hospital.

Relatives of the young man told the media that he will be operated upon this Thursday evening. The man’s relatives said that doctors are monitoring his condition on the hour.

Flavius and a woman were said to be in the balcony of his home at around 8:45 p.m., when they were attacked by the gang. Before entering the premises, the men started throwing stones at the house.

The men reportedly ransacked the house, destroying furniture and window panes. Flavius’ mother and grandmother, among other relatives were in the house during the attack.

It is unclear whether anyone has been arrested in connection with this crime. The Royal St Lucia Police Force is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

  3. Our youth are mentally imbalanced and are making some very decisions. The development of their mind has now become an imperative. There's the need to have a team comprising Psychologists, Psychiatrists and Social Workers to work in the communities to help in the situation. Failure to act urgently could mean having a society of misfits.

  11. This attack is mallisously done , with family inside and done nothing? These young people don't have no form of broughtupsy(respect) they are really getting out of control. I find the government should put a curfew on all of them. Who vex, let their kids go out and get lock up or killed.
