Free ICT training and certification for unemployed youth in the south

122584470PRESS RELEASE – The Caribbean Regional Communications Infrastructure Programme will commence FREE training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the south of the island from February 01, 2016.

The training will be undertaken in collaboration with the International American University (IAU) located in Vieux-Fort.

The IAU will offer regional and international certification in six (6) different ICT courses namely: Database Management, Multimedia Production, Information Communication Technology, Computer Maintenance and Repair, Systems Analysis and Design, and Internet Security.

To be eligible individuals must be unemployed and between the ages of 17 – 35 years. They must also be holders of a minimum of three CXCs or have at least one year job experience in their course of interest.

The CARCIP ICT Skills Development Programme forms part of the government’s overall strategy to increase economic growth, through the enhancement of productivity and technical expertise within the local ICT sector. The programme is currently being implemented by the Ministry of Public Service, Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with the TVET Unit of the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Development and Labour.

Under its ICT Skills Development Programme, CARCIP commenced ICT training and certification in October 2015. Currently, there are over 200 students being trained under the programme.

  2. Out off school..yet too get a job ....hmmmm. Here's an opportunity to get training and a certificate to seek employment and ure askin for job experience. ....

    • No Cherry, re read the article "They must also be holders of a minimum of three CXCs OR have at least one year job experience in their course of interest."

      Its 3 CXC OR 1 year job experience. You should enroll.

      I don't blame you for making the mistake because that's how I read it first.

      Hence it's always wise to read over at least twice.

    • The minimum requirement is 3 CXC passes. In the absence of CXCs they will accept the student if they have job experience in the course of interest. As stated in the article. It makes sense you dont want people to register and drop out they have to be serious. The requirements are fair.

    • what if you dont have a years experience in the course you want to do but have this keen interest in pursuing a career in it, do you stand a chance.
