(PRESS RELEASE VIA SNO) – The Msgr. Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC) has started receiving donations following the destruction of all its office equipment by the fire of March 25th 2018.
FRC’s work programme have been seriously affected by the loss of all its cultural asset holdings and office equipment and efforts are presently being made to replace such to ensure programme and business continuity for the organization.
A comprehensive Office Equipment Needs Assessment List has been completed by the organization. And items that are presently urgently required for facilitation and sustainability of ongoing programming are being sourced locally and internationally.
The first donation of two (2) professional scanners was made by St. Lucian, Mr. Denis Ishmael who resides in the USA. Mr. Ishmael called within days of the fire , offering assistance to FRC in its post-rebuilding efforts.
The specifications of the scanners were sent to Mr. Ishmael who procured the items and shipped the equipment which arrived on island on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018.
The professional scanners will be used immediately in the new digitization process aimed at ensuring that all print as well as electronic material are catalogued and digitized to minimize any losses by any future disasters.
The FRC Board of Directors, Staff, Members and well-wishers wishes to thank Mr. Ishmael publicly for his quick call to volunteer action and response which resulted in this wonderful gesture of commencing the FRC digitalization process. In the coming weeks, FRC will be vigorously pursuing further local and international assistance in sourcing the rest of the items constituting its Office Equipment Needs Assessment List .
