On Friday August 24th 2012, Officers attached to the Drug Unit, Vieux Fort were on patrol when they intercepted a blue Mitsubishi motor car registration number PG 5487 which was travelling in the direction of Volet, Micoud.
There were four occupants on the vehicle. Irone Bascombe a Barbadian national, Lennox Andrew, a Vincentian national, Pamela Dorville and the driver Wilson Alcide both of Micoud Village.
A search was conducted on the vehicle and a .25 pistol was recovered with two live rounds of ammunition. Also recovered was a quantity of Cannabis.
All occupants on the vehicle were arrested and taken into custody. They were charged for the offences of Possession of a Controlled Drug, Possession with the Intent to Supply a Controlled Drug, Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Irone Bascombe pleaded guilty to all charges. He was sentenced to Seven years imprisonment on Possession of Firearm and Seven years on Possession of Ammunition to run concurrently. He was cautioned, reprimanded and discharged on the charge of Possession of Cannabis and fined $500.00 on the charge of Intent to Supply or 30 days imprisonment to run concurrently.
The cases were withdrawn against the other defendants.
