Four people arrested in separate drug busts at sea

Officers attached to the Police Marine Unit of the Southern Division intercepted two vessels with cannabis off the coast of Moule A Chique within the territorial waters of Saint Lucia over the weekend.

On Saturday, August 31, 2013, a pirogue viz ‘Wanted’ was intercepted with 21.5 pounds of what appeared to be cannabis. Two Vieux Fort residents were arrested and taken into custody.

On Sunday, September 1, 2013, a second pirogue viz ‘Natural’ was intercepted with 138 pounds of what appeared to be cannabis. Two Dennery residents are currently in police custody.

All individuals are expected to be charged for possession of a controlled drug and possession with the intent to supply a controlled drug.

  1. Why dont we make cannabis lega?
    This is right thing to do. we didnt have this trouble back in the 70s/80s when weed was the druge of choice. maybe we will have less homecide. Try it as a pilote programe if it works then so be it any ???

  2. Cannabis so many people use it!! Including doctors. Why are u fighting god's creation!! You have not respect for the father. Why don't they close down all the rum shops down and put a band on cancer sticks instead!!!

  3. De-criminalize cannabis, or the very least, give them a ticket like traffic violation. Cannabis is not a drug because it is not manufactured, it's just a poor little tree trying to survive like us. Charge them some money and set them free with no criminal record. It's time we move forward.
