Castries Barcelona and Gros Islet Manchester City have qualified for the semi-finals of the St. Lucia Football Association’s Heineken Fantasy Inter-district Football Competition after penalty shoot-out wins in the quarterfinals of the competition last evening at the Soufriere Mini Stadium.
In the first encounter, Castries Barcelona had a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Anse La Raye AC Milan after the match ended 2-2 at regulation time.
Lancers FC Striker Baggio Lewis scored two goals to put Castries ahead but Mackean St. Croix also scored a brace to equalise for Anse La Raye who went down in the ensuing penalty shootout.
In the second encounter, Gros Islet Manchester City and Soufriere Zenit St.Peterberg SC played to a 1-1 draw but Gros Islet triumphed in the penalty shoot-out 3-0. Bobby Hippolyte had put Soufriere ahead but prolific striker Troy Greenidge equalised for Gros Islet.
The second set of quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Sunday, April 27 at the Dennery Playing Field.
From 2p.m. Mabouya Manchester United vs Vieux Fort North Arsnel and at 4 p.m. Dennery Chelsea will takes on Desruisseaux.
